“We are heard, but the rhythm is not yet the right one”estimated Wednesday March 20 on franceinfo Pierrick Horel secretary general of Young Farmers (JA), the day after the meeting with Gabriel Attal during which FNSEA and JA presented to the Prime Minister “five blocks” of priority measures for which they are awaiting a timetable. A new meeting has been set next Monday in Matignon, confirmed the general secretary of the agricultural union.

“We have a gap between the announcements made and what happens in the farmyards”warned Pierrick Horel, which “worry” Farmers. According to him, “the government must accelerate”because “farmers on the ground need concrete results quickly”. “You need rhythm”he repeated. “What is a little regrettable is that we move forward very hard at times, and then we put the rest aside”he continued. “We don’t completely understand the government’s working method”he explained.

“Progress” but deployment too slow

The general secretary of the JA, however, recognized progress which will “in the right direction”, but deplores the slow deployment of the measures announced by the government. The executive also recalled the work carried out with the “62 commitments” taken by Gabriel Attal, gradually declined, whether at the European level with fallows and meadows, or at the national level with a reflection on phytosanitary measures, support for livestock breeding or organic agriculture… “A large part of the CAP aid has been paid”, he conceded. The JA Secretary General also highlights progress “on phytosanitary work, on installation” young farmers.
