The general rapporteur of the National Assembly’s Social Affairs Committee believes that we must continue to explain the context which, in her opinion, justifies this reform, namely “the reality of the demographics of our population and the fact that there are no longer enough young people to pay the pensions of future retirees from 2024-2025”.

“It is not to make the reform understood, but to make the reality in which we find ourselves understood.”

Stéphanie Rist highlights the importance of debates within Parliament, and calls for “go to vote”. She is convinced that “The Republicans, in coherence, will be able to vote for this reform”. On the other hand, she accuses the deputies of the Nupes of carrying out a “obstruction”. While the debates in the hemicycle are slipping, MP Renaissance calls on the responsibility of parliamentarians: “We have a responsibility in relation to the number of French people who are worried about this reform or who reject it, we have a responsibility to debate why we are making this political choice.” In particular, she would like to discuss “article 7 which concerns the decline of the age and article 9 which speaks of the arduousness”.

“Enrich the text about hardship”

“We absolutely must explain what is in this reform and debate and enrich the text on the subject of hardship”, says Stephanie Rist. It justifies the removal, in 2017, of four hardship criteria, recalling that they “were not operational”. MP Renaissance looks more specifically at the case of carrying heavy loads, a criterion removed when Emmanuel Macron arrived at the Élysée. She ensures that in the government bill, “there are important measures on heavy loads”. “With the investment fund of one billion euros, there will be the possibility of having leave to do a retraining”which will allow “those who are not yet at the end of their career to change jobs to arrive less broken at the end of their career”she says.
