(Metz) The day after his feat against the Russian Daniil Medvedev (4e), the Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka (284e) eliminated Sweden’s Mikael Ymer (100e) in three sets (6-4, 4-6, 7-6 [7-5]), Friday in the quarter-finals of the ATP tournament in Metz.

On the heels of his match the day before, the Swiss, who was in his fifth meeting at the Moselle Open, where he had been invited to play the qualifications, broke quickly (3-1) to race in the lead. He played with the lines, went up to the net and strolled his rival, who seemed disillusioned (6-4).

If Wawrinka had hardly been worried about his entry in the first heat, it was not the same in the second. He was down 3-5, broke his opponent in stride but finally lost the set (4-6).

Despite the fatigue of the two players, the intensity of the debates did not decrease in the last set which ended in a tiebreaker with a long line passing from Wawrinka (7-5)

In the semi-final on Saturday, the Swiss will face the winner of the last quarter between the Dane Holger Rune (31e) and the Kazakh Alexander Bublik (44e).
