The park announced Inouk’s death, six months after the death of another orca, Moana. An animal protection association will file a complaint for mistreatment.

Marineland has lost one of its attractions. The marine mammal Inouk died in its pool in Antibes (Alpes-Maritimes), a male who was 25 years old. “This is terrible news that affects animal caretakers, and all the Marineland teams who saw Inouk born 25 years ago”, explains, in a press release, the marine park, Thursday March 28. Another orca had already died five months ago. There are only two orcas left in Antibes: Wikie, 22 years old, and Keijo, 10 years old.

Ban on cetacean shows

An animal rights association, One Voice, denounced the conditions of the animal’s captivity. The association will file a complaint for mistreatment. Six months ago, she had appointed an external veterinarian. Over a weekend, he observed the behavior of the orcas in the park. “Inouk’s dental problems were so severe that a person with an equivalent condition would suffer so much that they would likely ask to be euthanized.”, explains David Perpinan, veterinarian commissioned by the NGO One Voice. The law against animal abuse plans to ban cetacean shows in 2026.
