Runny nose, red eyes, sneezing: those allergic to pollen certainly noticed that it had made its return to the Alsatian sky. With the arrival of fine weather and spring, associations specializing in the subject send a few prevention messages.
Birch Pollen Red Alert
Like every year, it’s the birch pollen which first appears in the Alsatian sky. Both Bas-Rhin and Haut-Rhin are in red on the pollen allergy risk map of the National Aerobiological Surveillance Network (RNSA). Ash pollen is also beginning to circulate.
According to the Atmo Grand-Est association, 30% of adults and 20% of children are allergic to pollen. It is four times more than thirty years ago. She reminds us of a few simple actions to avoid suffering the symptoms as much as possible:
- Ventilate your home early in the morning or late at night
- Clean regularly
- Driving with the windows closed
- Avoid outside travel
- Wash your clothes after going outside
- Avoid hanging laundry outside
