On the occasion of the ceremony sealing the right to abortion in the French Constitution, a world first, Friday March 8, 2024, Franceinfo journalists devoted a Twitch live to this theme which remains divisive. Does this mean that this right is guaranteed forever for French women? Or that access to abortion will become simpler? Véronique Champeil-Desplats, constitutionalist, author of General theory of rights and freedoms and Kadija Azougach, lawyer, anthropologist and family planning activist, answered these first questions.

In the second part of this Twitch live, franceinfo goes back in history, before the Veil law of 1975, with those who were nicknamed the “angel makers”. A dive into the reality of clandestine abortions with our journalist Justine Cosemans. These dangerous practices are still relevant today, as many countries ban abortion or revoke this right, such as the United States. France Télévision correspondent in Washington, Camille Guttin, takes stock of the situation in the third and final part of this live.
