Interview with Emmanuel Macron on the war in Ukraine
The president hammered home, for around forty minutes Thursday evening, his desire to continue to support Ukraine.
“This start of 2024 must be a start for us.” The President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, insisted, in the 8 p.m. television news on TF1 and France 2, Thursday March 14, his desire to continue to support Ukraine. He notably stated that the “security” French people passed through “defeat of Russia” in Ukraine and that Westerners should be “ready to respond” in case of’“escalation” Russian in Europe. “If Russia were to win (..) we will no longer have security” and the “Europe’s credibility will be reduced to zero”did he declare.
He also returned to the consultative vote of parliamentarians on the security agreement between Paris and kyiv, on which the National Rally abstained, while La France insoumise and the Communist Party voted against. “You have to be respectful” of “political pluralism”launched Emmanuel Macron, nevertheless noting a “very deep disagreement” with these parties. “Choose to abstain or vote against”it’s not “Not choosing peace is choosing defeat.”
