The aid includes Himars systems, artillery munitions and anti-tank weapons, as well as small-caliber munitions, according to Pentagon and State Department releases.

This new aid comes from funds already approved by the American Congress but which are dwindling pending the vote of a new budget envelope for Ukraine requested by President Joe Biden but which remains on hold due to opposition of Republican elected officials.

“It is crucial that Congress takes measures to support Ukraine by adopting the additional budgetary envelope,” insisted the head of American diplomacy Antony Blinken quoted in the press release.

In Kyiv on Monday, the American Secretary of Defense assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of Washington’s continued support in the face of the Russian invasion.

The United States is by far the largest donor of military aid to Ukraine with a total of more than $44 billion since Russian troops began their invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
