Seasoned with rose petals and larch needles, the turkey suddenly has a little taste of adventure… Yet we are in the flavors of here, those that Les Épices du Guerrier puts forward with its Abénaki mixture, which is inspired by the flora of the banks of the St. Lawrence.
In 2017, Daniel Picard, from the Huron community of Wendake, near Quebec, launched Les Épices du Guerrier. The “warrior”, more of a gatherer, has been exploring the First Nations land in search of its flavors for more than 30 years. His wanderings have taken him to the four corners of the territory and led to the creation of blends of spices, condiments and infusions that bring to life the flavors of the indigenous dishes of 11 nations of Quebec.
Several communities have put their two cents into these concoctions inspired by recipes passed down orally from one generation to the next. There are several sweet and sour mixtures containing ingredients with a unique character, forged by a boreal forest subject to four distinct seasons. Unsurprisingly, maple sugar is one of the star ingredients in these preparations which enhance dishes in an assertive way.

The Gift Log contains the traditional mixture.
The Gift Log is one of the brand’s signature products and offers the traditional blend – an amalgam of spices in which sweet balsam, maple sugar and dune pepper come together – in a red pine box.
