End of the Grande Boucle for Warren Barguil. The Arkéa-Samsic team announced on Friday July 15 that its rider was “not leaving this morning at the start of the 13th stage of the Tour due to a positive test for Covid”. Warren Barguil is thus forced to leave the Tour de France. Arkea-Samsic’s press release specifies, however, that their seven other runners all tested negative”.

He is the sixth rider to have tested positive in the Tour de France and to have to give up the competition for this reason. Before him, Geoffrey Bouchard (AG2R Citroën), Vegard Stake Laengen (UAE Emirates), Guillaume Martin (Cofidis), Luke Durbridge (BikeExchange), George Bennett (UAE), all left the Tour road after testing positive.

Thursday, one of the training managers UAE Team Emirates (Tadej Pogacar’s team), Joxean Fernandez Matxin, announced to him on Twitter that he had also left the Tour de France still because of the Covid-19.
