War of organized crime: a man injured in an armed attack in Thetford Mines

A man in his thirties was seriously injured in what appears to be an armed attack that occurred Saturday in Thetford Mines, in Chaudière-Appalaches.

Police officers from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) were called to a residence on rue Saint-Nazaire around 3:30 a.m. On site, they located a man in his thirties who had suffered serious injuries.

He was transported to a hospital center, where there was no fear for his life, said Hélène St-Pierre, spokesperson for the SQ.

Investigators as well as forensic identification technicians were dispatched to the site to analyze the scene and understand the causes and circumstances of this event.

The SQ considers that this attack could have a link with the violent events that occurred in eastern Quebec in recent days.

Note that a vast police operation that began Friday evening in the east led to the arrest of eight individuals during the night. They should appear during the day on Saturday.
