  • Fighting continued on Friday in several cities across the country, such as Mariupol in the south and Kyiv, the capital. In Kharkiv, in the northeast, Russian fire left one dead and 11 injured.





  • Two days after the bombing of a theater in Mariupol, in which civilians were sheltering, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, announced that more than 130 people had been rescued. Hundreds of residents remain under the rubble, however, said the president.
  • According to the mayor of Lviv, in the west of the country, Russian missiles destroyed an aircraft factory in the airport district on Friday. There were no casualties.





  • During a phone call with the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, accused Ukraine of “numerous war crimes”, including “massive attacks with rockets and artillery on the cities of Donbass”. This part of the country, in the east, is partly controlled by pro-Russian separatists, supported by the Kremlin.





  • Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday criticized the slow delivery of Western weapons to his country, including the fighter jets he expects in Kyiv.
  • In a video posted on Facebook, President Zelensky said on Saturday that it was time for Moscow to agree to “discuss” seriously peace, “the only chance for Russia to minimize the damage caused by its own mistakes”.
  • In a video interview, US President Joe Biden warned his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, about the “implications and consequences if China provides material support to Russia as it leads a brutal attack on Ukrainian cities and civilians”.
  • About two million refugees have entered Poland since the start of the Russian invasion, according to a report on Friday, provided by Polish border guards. Since February 24, the UN estimates that more than three million people have fled Ukraine.
