The war in Ukraine has consequences on our daily lives. Should we fear shortages in supermarkets? Industrialists are worried andStores put in place rations on certain products such as sunflower oil.

In a store in Montpellier (Herault)the sunflower oil shelf is half empty. Above, a note indicates that the purchase is limited to four bottles per person. In another store in Perpignan (Eastern Pyrenees)that’s three liters per cart. Supermarkets are experiencing supply difficulties and are therefore asking customers to ration. “Perhaps it’s not so bad that we limit ourselves now to have it as long as possible”thinks a customer. Another finds this worrying and plans to carry more stocks.

Some stores are thus beginning to post this type of poster. However, the large distribution ensures that there is no risk of shortage for themoment, but than the stores only want to anticipate possible rushes on certain basic necessities. Only one sign assumes having supply difficulties. These tensions could increase in the next few months, particularly for wheat-based products, due to the war in Ukraine. In anticipation, stores located in Belgium, Germany and Spain are beginning to ration their customers.
