(Kyiv) Two people were killed and three injured in Khmelnytsky in western Ukraine, after a Russian attack involving more than a dozen Iranian-made combat drones overnight from Sunday to Monday, announced the authorities.
One of the deceased was a rescue worker killed during his service, said the mayor of Khmelnytsky, Oleksandr Symchychyne, on Telegram, reporting “damaged buildings” by these strikes.
Shortly after, the governor of the Khmelnytsky region, Serguï Gamaliï, announced to him on Telegram the death of a second rescuer who succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
Gamaliï also reported three night strikes against this city, a regional center located some 350 kilometers southwest of Kyiv and which had around 275,000 inhabitants before the Russian invasion launched a year ago.
In total, Russia launched “14 Iranian-made Shahed combat drones” against Ukraine, the Ukrainian Air Force said on Monday morning, according to which eleven of these devices were shot down by anti-aircraft defense.
Nine drones were shot down around Kyiv, the capital’s military administration said. The incident caused no casualties or destruction, according to the same source.
