Near the front line positioned in Donetsk, Ukrainian soldiers practice a musical instrument in a center created ad hoc. Whatever their reason for coming, this establishment offers a moment of salutary sweetness.

Nearly two years after the start of the war, fighting continues near Donetsk in eastern Ukraine. In the trenches hit by winter cold, the soldiers live to the erratic rhythm of the clashes. Some, injured or simply exhausted by the conflict, decide to go to a music rehabilitation center. Soldiers can practice a musical instrument or simply sing. An often welcome catharsis.

Artists performing

“When we listen to music, we don’t think of the war. There are rhythms that make us think of good memories”, testifies Oleksander, a Ukrainian soldier. The center also hosts artists who perform in front of the troops. “All those who live behind must be able to do this”testifies Daniela Zaïushkina., a Ukrainian singer
