Will Ukraine run out of ammunition to respond to the Russian offensive? Ukrainians currently use far more than the international community can provide.
Firing tirelessly is the daily life of Ukrainian pyrotechnicians. In their hands, American ammunition, which they are obliged to reason for lack of sufficient stock. A soldier says: “We really don’t have enough.“ These ammunition have become the sinews of war and Ukraine is struggling to keep up with the pace imposed by Russia. From Brussels (Belgium), Jens Stoltenbergthe Secretary General of NATO, sounded the alarm: “The rate of ammunition consumption by Ukraine is much higher than our rate of production.“
A risk of shortage
So, is there a risk of a shortage? About twenty European Union countries supply arms to Ukraine, as do Turkey, the United Kingdom, Norway the Canada and the United States. But in these countries, industrialists have rather reduced the sails in recent years and the factories are not sized to current needs. At NATO, the allies are in a hurry to find solutions, but each country remains sovereign and no common delivery structure is envisaged at this stage.
