In just two weeks, half the population of the Kyiv metropolitan area, the capital of Ukraine, fled. The endless line of Russian tanks continues to approach. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is still there.
A column of Russian tanks was photographed on Friday March 11 near the airport ofAntonovjust 70 kilometers from the Ukrainian capital of Kiev. On another satellite imageother tanks are positioned in the town of Lubianka. The Russian army is progressing above all by the north of the capital. In the suburbs of Kiev, village by village, the Ukrainian soldiers try to contain the advance of the Russian troops.
Soon the fighting could get even tougher. Moscow has said it is in favor of sending Syrian mercenaries to fight alongside Russian forces. In the capital, where people continue to flee, tension is mounting. “It is a war against a very stubborn enemy, who has decided to hire mercenaries against our citizens”says Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. In Kiev, today there are less than two million inhabitants.
