In Ukraine, in the port area of Mariupol, there are only a handful of Ukrainian soldiers left. They have been fighting for 47 days against the Russian army, and have taken refuge in an industrial complex. The 20 Hours was able to penetrate to the heart of Mariupolon the Russian side.
According to pictures from Ruptly dated April 7, a factory of Mariupol (Ukraine) was bombed by the Russians and the separatists. This is the last Ukrainian stronghold preventing Russia from proclaiming Mariupol. Monday April 11, in the districts which adjoin the factory, all the buildings are destroyed. The factory is completely surrounded. There would remain there 2,000 to 3,000 Ukrainian soldiers without supplies for several weeks.
To MariupolChechen soldiers fight. “We don’t feel fear, that’s why we are mobile and get everywhere on time”testifies one of their leaders. They say they are fighting for the integrity of Russia. The Russians and the separatists amassed troops and equipment around the factory. A pro-Russian separatist soldier do not doubt the victory, but the fights are difficult. Luc Lacroix, special envoy to Mariupolconcludes by explaining that this battle of the factory prevents the Russian soldiers “to redeploy further north of Donbass, where they are currently carrying out their major offensive”.
