In the martyr city of Mariupol, in Ukraine, ravaged by the fighting, the inhabitants lack everything: water, food and electricity. Report.

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine it more than a month ago, the inhabitants of Mariupol (Ukraine) survive in hell. A few hours during the day, they come out of the cellars in which they hide. They have no water, no heating or electricity. Two inhabitants cut the railing of a staircase: the wood will be used for cooking. Some locals don’t know where to go. Others cannot afford to leave or are too old.

There would remain more than 150,000 inhabitants in Mariupolbombed city. In the part of the city controlled by Russian troops and separatists, residents can, in theory, leave for Russia. But for a resident, leaving her family here is out of the question. “Diplomatic negotiations do not seem to have had any effect on the intensity of the fighting so far”concludes journalist Luc Lacroix, special correspondent for Mariupol.
