In Ukraine, the war has psychological and even psychiatric consequences for more and more soldiers. Report in a hospital dedicated to post-traumatic stress linked to the war.
His wounds are invisible, but very real. A victim of post-traumatic stress, a Ukrainian soldier must stay several weeks in hospital Pushcha-Vodytsya (Ukraine). Like 150 other patients welcomed here, he has just arrived from the front in a state of shock. “I can’t forget”he testifies. For him, he is indeed impossible to forget the war, but also impossible to talk about it. He ends up showing a video in which we see him in the trenches, while a shell falls very close to him.
To treat post-traumatic stress, these soldiers are monitored by a team of psychologists, physiotherapists and neurologists. They have access to relaxing activities, including canine therapy. “Today, this hospital offers a lot of help to people like me, who were on the front line and who have the consequences of the explosions”testifies Volodymyra Ukrainian soldier treated in the hospital. Despite the severity of their injuries, most of these soldiers want to recover quickly so that they can return to the front lines and defend their country.
