On Friday July 29, a bombardment hit a detention center in southern Ukraine controlled by pro-Russian separatist forces. The detainees were Ukrainian prisoners of war. The toll is heavy since 50 people have died.
To Olevnika (Ukraine) in the Donbass, the pictures are terrible. Lifeless bodies are lined up side from a jail. Fifty people died in a deadly bombardment. The detention center is located in a territory controlled by pro-Russian separatists, only 15 kilometers from the front where the fighting is raging. The damage in the building affected by the night strikes is impressive and most of the equipment has been destroyed. Some completely charred bodies litter the prison floor.
For the pro-Russian separatists who occupy the territory in which the prison is located, it was the Ukrainians who bombed the detention center. “Last night, the Ukrainian army launched salvoes of American missiles”says Konstantin Kolybelskyi, a pro-Russian separatist soldier. Another story on the Ukrainian side since the president Volodymir Zelensky accused : “This is a deliberate Russian war crime, a deliberate mass murder of Ukrainian POWs.” Some prisoners are members of the brigade Azov which has stood for several weeks in the factoryAzovstalat Mariupol (Ukraine).
