War in Ukraine, day 766 | Russian bombings kill two people in the East

(Kyiv) Russian bombings killed at least two people and injured one in the Donetsk region, in eastern Ukraine, Ukrainian authorities said on Saturday, who claimed to have destroyed nine enemy drones overnight.

The town of Krasnohorivka, located very close to the front, was under “enemy fire during the night and morning,” regional governor Vadym Filachkin said on Telegram.

These shots killed a 70-year-old woman and a 73-year-old man, and injured another, he said, calling on the last civilians present to flee the city.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region (central-south), a 36-year-old man injured the day before in a strike died in hospital and another is still hospitalized, said regional manager Serhiy Lyssak.

In the last 24 hours, a man was killed after driving his tractor over an unidentified explosive device during agricultural work near Topolyne, in the Kherson region (south), Ukrainian police said on Saturday.

In the occupied part of the Kherson region, four civilians were also injured by Ukrainian rockets, the head of the local Russian occupation administration, Vladimir Saldo, said on Saturday.

During the night from Friday to Saturday, the Ukrainian Air Force claimed to have shot down nine Russian explosive drones, out of a total of 12, in the regions of Kherson, Odessa, Dnipropetrovsk and Poltava.

In Donetsk, Russia also carried out a strike with S-300/S-400 missiles fired from the annexed Crimean peninsula, this source added on Saturday, without further details.

The day before, Russia carried out new massive strikes against Ukraine’s power grid, seriously damaging at least three thermal power plants and prompting Ukrainian authorities to introduce emergency power cuts.

On Saturday, the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy indicated that these cuts had been lifted in all affected regions, specifying that energy restrictions nevertheless remained in force for 120,000 users in the Kharkiv region due to “considerable damage” suffered by local infrastructure.
