“Last night, the Russian army bombed the city center of Kherson,” lamented the regional governor, Oleksandr Prokudin, in a message on Telegram.

According to the official, “a shell hit a residential building”, killing “an 87-year-old man and his 81-year-old wife” on the spot. Another resident of Kherson, “aged 54”, “suffered head trauma due to [cette] explosion” and “leg injuries”.

Elsewhere in the center of Kherson, emergency services “discovered the body of a dead man while clearing the rubble”.

“The Russian army hit residential areas in the region, medical facilities, an educational institution and critical infrastructure in Kherson,” he listed, without giving further details on the extent of the material damage. .

President Volodymyr Zelensky quickly denounced “brutal and terrorist bombings” on social networks.

“All necessary services and our rescuers will work around the clock to restore electricity supply,” he promised.

Kherson, located on the other side of the natural front line formed by the Dnieper River, has been the almost daily target of bombardments by Moscow’s army since its recapture by Kyiv forces in November 2022 after several months of occupation Russian.
