(Kherson) At least three people were killed and two others injured in a Russian strike in Kherson, southern Ukraine, authorities said on Saturday, two days after deadly artillery fire.
“It was learned that three people had been killed and two injured at the site of an enemy attack on the highway [qui relie] Mykolaiv in Kherson,” Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson regional military administration, told Telegram.
“Relief work continues” on the spot, he added.
On the spot, Galyna Kolisnyk, 53, escaped the “tragedy”, she says. She had come to refuel and was “inside a store” when she heard “explosions” outside.
“We returned, then five minutes later this tragedy took place,” she told AFP. “Our car was hit… It’s horrible! “.
In a previous message, Mr. Prokoudin had said that “a car had caught fire after being hit by a projectile”, evoking one death and one injury initially.
“Russian terrorists are bombing Kherson again. There are wounded and dead, ”lamented the head of the presidential administration Andriï Iermak on Telegram, without giving more details at this stage.
However, he accompanied his message with a photo of a completely charred car, firefighters working around the charred carcass.
This new strike comes two days after Russian artillery shell fire killed three people in the same city of Kherson, according to the Ukrainian presidency.
Kherson, the main city in the eponymous region of southern Ukraine, was liberated by the Kyiv army last November after several months of Russian occupation. Since then, Russian fire has been regular on the region, which Moscow partially controls.
