The Prime Minister made the announcement on Monday afternoon. This is the fourth cargo that will be sent to help the Ukrainian army fight against the Russian invasion.
The federal government also prohibits any importation of crude oil from Russia in the hope of harming the oligarchs who profit from this industry to enrich themselves.
This sector accounts for more than a third of Russia’s federal budget revenue and, although Canada has only imported very limited quantities in recent years, this measure sends a powerful message.
