In Israel, far-right ministers are threatening to leave the government if the agreement, presented Thursday May 30 by Joe Biden, is concluded with Hamas. An agreement that includes the release of hostages and a ceasefire in Gaza. In the streets, thousands of Israelis continue to demonstrate against Benjamin Netanyahu.
120,000 Israelis are in the streets, in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, not to let the hope of peace slip away. A symbolic Statue of Liberty demands immediate agreement for the release of the hostages. A huge banner also begs Joe Biden to save Benjamin Netanyahu’s hostages. Demonstrators who express their confidence in Joe Biden and conversely, all their distrust of their Prime Minister.
Saturday June 1, pressure came from the streets, and also from the negotiators. In a joint statement, the United States, Qatar and Egypt call on Hamas and Israel to finalize the road map. But in the Jewish state, a political crisis is looming. Far-right minister Itamar Ben-Gvir threatened to resign if the deal was signed.
