In a speech on Thursday October 12, Emmanuel Macron spoke about the conflict between Hamas and Israel. The president notably reaffirmed his support for the Jewish state.
From the start of his speech, Thursday October 12, Emmanuel Macron reiterated his support for the State of Israel, five days after the attack carried out by the Hamas. “We assured Israel and its people of our unwavering solidarity and support in the legitimate response to terrorist acts. Israel has the right to defend itself by eliminating terrorist groups, including Hamasthrough targeted actions, but while preserving the civilian populations”affirmed the head of state.
“The right words”
This speech was welcomed, Thursday evening, by the Socialist Party (PS). “I found that the president had the right words to talk about the seriousness of the situation”estimated Boris VallaudPS deputy. The head of state also attacked, in barely veiled words, the position considered ambiguous by La France insoumise (LFI), which is counterattacking. “I find it unacceptable that the President of the Republic did not have a clear condemnation against the acts [de l’armée israélienne, NDLR] against the Gaza Strip“, replied Manuel Bomparddeputy LFI.
The President of the Republic finally returned to the fate of the hostages, notably French, held by the Hamas. He assured that France would do everything possible to bring them back safely.
