The inmate escaped from Angers prison, described asdangerous“, and wanted since the end of December in Gironde, was arrested in Marignane in Bouches-du-Rhône, franceinfo learned from a judicial source on Tuesday January 16 in the evening, confirming information from the daily South West. The man was last seen on December 29 in Pugnac, in the northern part of Gironde where his former partner lives. According to the Angers public prosecutor’s office, “dangerousness” was explained by the fact “that he had threatened his ex-partner”. The latter had been placed under protection.

The fugitive escaped on December 28 from the Angevin Mental Health Center (Cesame) in Sainte-Gemmes-sur-Loire, in Maine-et-Loire, where he had just been transferred from Angers prison , after having damaged his cell by fire. He had been serving two sentences for aggravated robbery since July 2022 and was available for release in June 2024.
