Walmart at Central Market | The Press

A new Walmart store will open its doors at Marché Central in the summer of 2023. The multinational will invest $20 million in this new project, which will be fitted out with a 125,000 square foot green roof.

“We designed this store with several sustainable features because Walmart’s goal is to minimize its environmental footprint. We look forward to opening it next year as we continue our growth in Quebec,” said Cyrille Ballereau, regional vice-president of Walmart Canada for Quebec, in a press release.

In addition to its green roof, the 140,000 square foot store will be equipped with a “state-of-the-art” system that will have “sustainable” features: LED lighting, sinks, urinals and toilets. very low flow rate and recycled content in building materials.

Walmart plans to hire 300 employees to work at the Marché Central branch. In Quebec, the company has 71 stores.
