The ambulatory visit is done with a tablet in hand. We offer a quantity of information and images, in particular on the renovation of the cathedral following the fire of 2019 – and some 3D and 360 degree views of the places, depending on the era.

The exhibition design is very beautiful and calls for slowness. A bit like being at the cathedral. In this sense, it is very successful and this is what was needed, because the quality of the experience relies heavily on reading the capsules, divided by themes and eras.

The fire of spring 2019 is clearly present in the exhibition: it is what inspired the creation of this project, which gives us privileged access to the reconstruction of the cathedral. It’s very interesting. The reopening of Notre-Dame de Paris is scheduled for December 2024.

The research is exhaustive and the visitor can devote four hours to the visit, if he wants to read everything. Which would still be a lot: we recommend spending 60 to 90 minutes there. There are 21 “time doors” which each present a theme or profession, from the time or today.

Obviously, the exhibition places a lot of emphasis on history. It notably presents the coronation of Napoleon 1er in December 1804. Fun addition: the visitor can engage in a treasure hunt during their visit, by spotting points in certain paintings, which can hook younger visitors who might otherwise get bored.

Among the most interesting paintings, those, very visual, which show Notre-Dame at its creation and, then, more than 800 years later. It is sometimes possible to have 360 degree views, by manipulating the tablet all around you. The exhibition ends on December 30, 2023.
