Wales’ women’s players narrowly escaped the same fate as their male counterparts, who concluded the 2024 Six Nations Tournament with the wooden spoon. After three defeats in as many matches, the Welsh snatched victory against Italy (22-20) on the final day, Saturday April 27. They will finish in last place no matter what, but not empty-handed.
It was Sisilia Tuipulotu who came to deliver her partners in the 77th minute by scoring the equalizer before Lleucu George transformed to offer victory to her team. The players of the XV du Leek chased the score for a long time and only led for fifteen minutes in this match, but that was enough to beat the Italians, who may have regrets. The Transalpines, currently fourth, will have to wait for the result of Ireland-Scotland to know their final ranking.
