Vulgar language towards a referee | Sharks coach fined $25,000

(San Jose) San Jose Sharks coach David Quinn has been fined $25,000 for using foul language towards a referee.


The NHL announced the sanction on Wednesday, in connection with “degrading conduct towards officials”.

The incident happened Saturday, in an 8-3 loss to the Washington Capitals.

Quinn began to yell at referee Gord Dwyer after a penalty awarded to Kevin Labanc in the third period.

Quinn received a game misconduct. He continued to insult Dwyer before finally coming off the bench.

After the game, the coach said he was embarrassed by his actions.
