Summer is the season for picking wild blueberries in the Vosges. Some perform this task for fun and others do it as work for the season.

In the Vosges, it is an immutable ritual that takes place every summer: the picking blueberries at his best. To collect these summer fruits, everyone uses a different technique. “Memy technique is to walk, to move around. I only take the beautiful ones I see and my wife, she sits down and presto, she picks up everything around her”slips Patrick, a regular picker with his wife.

For some, picking is a passion, for others it’s a job. To monitor his fifteen seasonal employees, the producer, Bruno Vincent, watches with a smile and tastes the blueberries to see if they meet the satisfactory criteria. “It’s still a slightly different organization, it’s really very early, we usually have everything that is harvesting strawberries, cherries, that’s it. We overlap a little so we also have to know how to find the customers behind”explains Bruno Vincent, who is experiencing a peak in activity during this period.
