In summer in Germany, locals take full advantage of the lakes, which are overrun. To ensure everyone’s safety, a system of volunteer lifeguards has been set up. They are 560,000 across the country.
With the latest temperature records, lakes in Germany are taken over by swimmers eager to cool off, but sometimes unaware of the risks. A man is in difficulty, in an area prohibited for swimming. The rescue boat arrives in seconds. The swimmer admits having overestimated his strength, he is taken back to shore. Very quickly, another alert: a small boat with children on board has just capsized. The boats are righted, all the children safe and sound.
To ensure the safety of bathers, a system of volunteer lifeguards has been set up. They are 560,000 throughout the country. In certain dangerous areas, bathers are sometimes not very careful, and must be particularly supervised. No rest planned for these rescuers, before the end of the summer.
