Monday, June 27, Volodymyr Zelensky asked the members of the G7 to do everything to put an end to the war in Ukraine before next winter. By video, the Ukrainian president called on them to intensify arms deliveries to his country to repel Russian forces. “The G7 continues to support Ukraine around the world and we will help Ukrainians rebuild their economy, export their grain and, of course, protect them”said Boris Johnson, the British Prime Minister.
The G7, meeting since Sunday June 26 in Germany, is considering capping the price of Russian oil. This measure would require convincing all the major hydrocarbon buyer countries. On the food security front, the G7 promised to release funds to avert famine and invited five emerging countries to take part in the discussions. These nations represent 1.7 billion people highly exposed to the global food crisis.
