He will participate either online or in person. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will take part in the next G7 summit in Italy scheduled for June, his spokesperson announced on Monday June 3. “I can neither confirm nor deny that the president will physically participate in the G7 summit, but in any case, whether online or physically, there is no doubt that he will be present,” Serguii Nikiforov said on Ukrainian television.
One of the main points on the agenda of the summit, which will be held in southern Italy from June 13 to 15, will focus on ways to use interests in frozen Russian assets to provide new aid to Ukraine, where the war continues. Volodymyr Zelensky has increased his travels in recent days to garner support ahead of a summit on Ukraine organized on June 15 and 16 in Switzerland, to which Russia has not been invited. He visited several European capitals, as well as Singapore and the Philippines.
The announcement of its participation in the G7 comes as one person was killed and two injured in a Russian rocket attack carried out during the night from Sunday to Monday, in the Kharkiv region (northeast of Ukraine) . This region is targeted almost daily by Russian forces, who launched a land offensive in this sector on May 10, seizing several localities.
