Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky canceled his speech scheduled for Tuesday, December 5, before the American Congress due to an event “of last minute”, said Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer. The Ukrainian president was to speak virtually to the American Congress, hoping to obtain the release of a new envelope, while Washington is the most important supplier of military aid to kyiv.

Democratic President Joe Biden’s promise to continue financial support to Ukraine is in serious jeopardy. Dissensions are being heard in the American Congress, which has so far validated the gigantic envelopes of military, humanitarian and macroeconomic aid for kyiv. A disaster scenario for kyiv, whose disappointing counter-offensive did not bring the hoped-for territorial gains.

Anticipating the risk of weariness of the great American ally, President Zelensky went to Washington in person in September, meeting Joe Biden but also elected representatives of Congress with whom he had long discussions. But his visit did not have the desired effect; Congress ultimately did not approve new funds for his offensive.
