Volodymyr Zelensky does not want a truce during the Olympic Games, a wish expressed in an interview with AFP. He says he is preparing for a broader Russian offensive in northern and eastern Ukraine.

For several days, the Ukrainian army has found itself in a complicated situation facing the Russian offensive in the Kharkiv region (Ukraine). “Russia can fire any weapon from their territory to ours, this is their greatest advantage. We cannot do anything against their systems, which are located on their territory with weapons supplied by the West “said Volodymyr Zelensky.

If the Ukrainian president is alarmed by the lack of air defense systems or the absence of delivery of combat planes, the president especially criticizes the attitude of the chancelleries towards Moscow. “We find ourselves in an absurd situation, where the West fears that Russia will lose the war, and it does not want Ukraine to lose it either”he adds.

kyiv also rejects any idea of an Olympic truce. “Who can guarantee that Russia will not use this time to bring its troops into our territory?”, asks Volodymyr Zelensky. The president of Ukraine finally wants China to get involved in the peace conference in his country, which is to be held in June.
