Referred to in financial circles as “Equity stories”, they aim to highlight the development opportunities of a brand.

“Whether it’s Audi, Volkswagen, Skoda, we want to further refine the profiles of the group’s brands and thus strengthen the entrepreneurial spirit. Within the Volkswagen group, I feel a clear desire to give greater importance to capital market issues, ”explained to the economic daily Handelsblatt Mr. Blume, who took control of the group at the beginning of September.

The Volkswagen group, listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, markets around ten brands including VW, Audi, Seat, Cupra, Skoda, Lamborghini, Bentley, Ducati motorcycles and Scania trucks.

Porsche’s recent IPO has fueled speculation that the manufacturer might organize the partial sale of other subsidiaries.

At this stage, it is only a “practice”, said Mr. Blume, with no concrete plan.

“We want to show that the Volkswagen Group has additional potential. And this potential lies in the attractiveness of the brands that are part of the group. We can assess future prospects later,” the CEO said.

The IPO of Porsche should allow Volkswagen to collect a total windfall of around 19 billion euros, half of which will be used to finance the transition to electric and autonomous cars.

In addition to these exceptional revenues, Volkswagen’s goal is also to increase its own stock market value, considered undervalued by its leaders, while the second largest manufacturer in the world weighs only around 90 billion euros, a fraction of the market capitalization. of its American rival Tesla, valued around 950 billion dollars
