The Russians will celebrate the victory over Nazi Germany on Monday, May 9. The opportunity for Moscow to display its power and its determination to carry out the declared war on Ukraine to the end. Hugues Huet, special correspondent for France Télévisions is live from Moscow, Sunday May 8.
Vladimir Putin promised his soldiers final victory, as in 1945. “It was in a statement addressed to the former Soviet republics that Vladimir Putin proclaimed his faith in victory. In short: ‘no pause, we will eventually defeat the Ukrainian Nazis’. A promise, because in reality Vladimir Putin cannot claim no decisive victory”indicates Hugues Huet, special correspondent in Moscow for France Télévisions, Sunday May 8.
“From [lundi 9 mai]before ses soldiers, the head of the Kremlin could be led to take a step, and this could go through the declaration of war on Ukraine”, continues the journalist. This is the hypothesis put forward by some experts, which “would mean the recall of the reservists. It would also mean perhaps the return of the conscripts to the war field of Ukraine. And this is obviously extremely sensitive, which is why in Moscow we do not believe in it too much”, explains Huet. Another hypothesis considered would be to use the threat of nuclear weapons again.
