One of the “bosses” of French electro is back with a new album. With “Dissidaence, Episode 1”, Vitalic offers a record that celebrates the return of clubs, nightlife, public and party. And which, in reaction, returns to the dark period of more than a year and a half that artists, DJs and discotheques have just experienced.

When you first listen – and especially the single with Kiddy Smile, Rave Against The System – we say to ourselves that his previous album, the disco and cosmic To travel, is already far away. Yes, Vitalic decided to hit harder.
With Dissidence, and after more than 20 years of career, like everyone else, he suffered a sudden stop in 2020, he who usually only travels. Confronted with emptiness, from the first confinement he constructs rough pieces of pieces. Several months later, it will become an album with a real unity of meaning.
“The album is about frustration […] that it’s illegal to dance, which reminded me of the 90s and the ban on raves, with the same renegade side. “
It must be said that the pandemic cut short a triumphant tour with Kompromat, his duet with Rebeka Warrior, who had returned a lot of festivals in the summer of 2019. And then he had to postpone twice his big meeting scheduled for The Accor Arena in Paris … Like other techno artists, in reaction to the void, Vitalic wanted to strengthen his music, assuming the “political message“which infuses more and more in today’s techno.
“Today the ‘kids’ listen to extremely harsh, violent stuff, and that reflects everything that is happening, the anger even before the confinement with the ‘yellow vests’ … It’s very tense.”
However, the album also offers more peaceful, more atmospheric moments … Vitalic promises a much harder tone for Dissidaence, Episode 2, the second part which will arrive soon. Hoping by then to have regained all the energy of the club and the night.
