The end of a hegemony. The presidential majority failed to once again sweep a purple wave over France on Sunday, June 12, during the first round of legislative elections, winning 25.75% of the vote, according to the final results. Certainly, the coalition Together! qualified one of its candidates in 417 constituencies out of 577, half of which came first in the first round. But the comparison with the 2017 tidal wave is more worrying for the macronie.

In five years, the presidential majority lost seven points and a hundred qualifications. Worse, it finds itself much less often in first place. In 2017, La République en Marche and Le Modem achieved the feat of rising to the top of the first round in 451 constituencies. Five years later, the Together! only achieved this performance in 201 territories, mainly in the west of France. A erosion which could lead Emmanuel Macron to lose his absolute majority in the National Assembly during the second round of the legislative elections.
