Is Élisabeth Borne living her last days as Prime Minister? Rumors of a major reshuffle are growing in ministerial cabinets, fueled by the fact that there will ultimately be no Council of Ministers in the first week of January. While the resumption is postponed until the following week, the main party refuses to comment. She has just spent two days on very different subjects: the problems of Guyana, thousands of kilometers from Paris, where she has had many meetings.

From the first hours of the year, Élisabeth Borne sails on a canoe on the Maroni River. The sun shines in a climate and an atmosphere very different from France and its political contests, particularly when the Prime Minister arrives in a Native American village. The dancers in traditional outfits take her by the shoulders: Élisabeth Borne lets herself be carried away by the atmosphere.

Dry response

When she speaks in front of residents, she acts as if her position was not in danger. “You know, I head the government under the authority of the President of the Republic. It is obviously very important for me to go everywhere in the territory. We are determined to support each of our fellow citizens.”

So we try to ask him directly a question about his future plans, in the wake of the wishes of the President of the Republic. “Thank you for your question but I think we will have the opportunity to come back to it soon.” Dry response from Élisabeth Borne, who prefers to take the helicopter to the next stage of her journey in the Amazon, where the telephone and the Internet do not reach. Two days of almost disconnection before returning to the grayness and worries of Paris.
