While waiting for the end of the renovation of Notre-Dame Cathedral, an immersive visit in virtual reality opened its doors on Saturday January 15 at the Grande Arche de la Défense, giving the impression of strolling through the heart of the Parisian monument.

Perched on the scaffolding of Notre-Dame, suspended above the void: an unprecedented adventure in virtual reality has been accessible since Saturday January 15. Three years after the fire of the cathedral, the exhibition, entitled “Eternal Notre-Dame” is all the more stunning as it can be shared with several people. “They are immersed in medieval times, they do not see us”, comments François Nicolas, producer of the experience. To take part in this adventure, you have to start by creating your own digital double, and equip yourself with a latest-generation virtual reality headset.

Immersion is total for 45 minutes. “It’s an incredible return to the past”, assures a visitor. While waiting for the reopening of the monument in 2024, it is an original way to discover inaccessible corners of the chefwork Gothic, like the bells, the frame, and the rendering is striking. The experience is a world first. In a space of 50 m² at the Grande Arche de la Défense, in Puteaux (Hauts-de-Seine), around fifty people can participate at the same time, a priori without ever colliding. The experience costs 30 euros per person full price, but 30% of the ticket will be donated for the restoration of the monument.
