Virginie Efira’s heartfelt cry to “save Gaza”

They try to act on their scale. If Virginie Efira

, Tahar, Rahim, or even Alex Lutz, do not have control over the French army and geopolitical decisions, they still try to make their contribution to establish peace in the world. The three artists cited, as well as around ten others, proved it this Thursday, December 21, 2023 when they sent an open letter to the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron.

A letter in which they request a “permanent and immediate ceasefire” in Gaza, as relayed by our colleagues from Parisian.“We, of all origins and all faiths, united by the condemnation of this catastrophe, […] ask you to do everything possible to ensure that this massacre stops.”, they wrote in particular. The signatories declare that there is still time to “save the living and beating hearts of Gaza” as well as “humanity to all”.

Virginie Efira and other personalities, “horrified” by the deaths in Israel and Palestine

In this letter published on laculturepouruncessezlefeu.org, and taken up by the magazine Telerama

signatories such as Virginie EfiraTahar Rahim, or even the rapper Fianso, indicate to the French Head of State that she is calling on him to “[son] duty.” “We will rise, we will demonstrate, we will write, we will challenge, we will gather, until there are signs of a new day”they also warn.

The reason for this letter? The raging war, of course, but also the horror faced “the death of more than 19,000 Palestinians, including more than 7,000 children”as well as “the unacceptable policy of apartheid implemented by the Israeli government in Palestine”. However, the signatories have not forgotten the Israeli victims who shock them just as much. In fact, they said to themselves “horrified” by “the death of more than 1,200 Israelis on October 7 (in the Hamas attack), and the taking of hostages”for which they call “immediate return”.Virginie Efira and the other signatories demand equal rights for both Palestinians and Israelis, and condemn “hate, wherever it is, and whoever it affects”. “We unreservedly reject Islamophobia and anti-Semitism, both of which feed the same abysses”they concluded.
