A successful actress

After a César in February, a hilarious performance in “Lol! Who laughs ? Sort”, several high-flying film projects, Virginie Efira’s career is in full swing. But that’s not all, the actress is, according to those around her, pregnant with her second child. At 45, the one who is already the mother of a little Ali, from her previous relationship with the director Mabrouk El Mechri, is expecting a baby for the months to come. In a relationship since 2019, Virginie Efira and Niels Schneider would have concretized their relationship after a very romantic meeting on the set of the film “Un amour impossible”.

While waiting to learn more about this happy event, find the actress of “20 years apart” in these last two critical successes made by women.

“Revoir Paris”, a heartbreaking drama about the attacks

Let yourself be carried away by the emotion of this very beautiful feature film on the theme of the attacks of November 13. In this film, Virginie Efira plays Mia, a Russian translator who decides one evening to take shelter in a bar to escape the storm. She then finds herself caught in a bloody and deadly attack… Three months later, she tries to rebuild herself after this traumatic event by making contact with other survivors of the attack. In her quest, she will come across Thomas, himself a survivor, played by Benoît Magimel, the other big winner of the Césars for his performance in “Painting – Torment on the Islands”.

Director Alice Winocour (“Augustine”), whose own brother was present at the Bataclan, pays a fine tribute to the victims of the attacks. The magnificent and poignant interpretation of Virginie Efira amply deserved this César for best actress: the actress is very accurate throughout the film, oscillating between modesty and overflowing with emotions.

“Other people’s children”, or the art of being a mother-in-law

In this feature film, also released last year, director Rebecca Zlotowski tells the story of Rachel, 40, childless, who one day falls in love with Ali, a divorced father. Very quickly, the young woman becomes attached to Leila, the latter’s 4-year-old daughter. She reads her stories, tucks her in at night, takes care of her and ends up loving her like a mother. But what place for her in the life of this child at the dawn of this young couple?

Virginie Efira plays with perfection a role rarely treated in the cinema, and yet so common: the affection that a woman can have for the children of her companion. A situation that echoes the life of the actress, since she was already a mother-in-law when she was only 22 years old.

Before discovering her in the next film by Valérie Donzelli, “Love and the Forests”, alongside Melvil Poupaud, thrill in these 2 feature films available now on Canal+.
