Virgil Abloh, artistic director of Louis Vuitton and creator of streetwear brand Off White, died of cancer on Sunday at the age of 41.
“We are all shocked by this terrible news. Virgil was not a simple designer, he was also a man with a magnificent soul and great wisdom. The LVMH family joins me in this moment of great sadness and we all think of their loved ones who have lost a husband, a father, a brother and a friend, ”LVMH announced on social networks.
A star designer celebrated for his unique vision and collaboration with big names in rap like Kanye West, he had not made a public announcement about his illness.
He was artistic director of the Louis Vuitton house since 2018.
