Virbac, specialist in animal feed, plans to double its workforce in Saint-Gilles

This is good news, in the medium term, for employment, in the Gard. Virbac, one of the largest companies in the animal feed and medicine sector, is set to double its workforce by moving into its new factory in Saint-Gilles. “The 70 people currently working on the Vauvert site will of course be retained”indicates on France Bleu Gard Lozère, this Monday morning, Olivier Elfassy, director of the commercial unit of Virbac.

If Virbac decides to hire, it is because the kibble and animal cachet market is booming. “This is linked in particular to the increase in dog and cat populations in Europe, around 15 to 20%, in some countries”, specifies the person concerned. The new Virbac site will cost between 40 and 50 million euros. It should open at the end of 2025.
