Fires have broken out in the Valencia region of Spain. The flames spread over more than 120 km. A fire finally contained, Saturday August 20, it seems.
A wall of gigantic flames and opaque smoke ravaged eastern Spain, in the region of Valencia. Despite the showers of the last few days, the fire remains difficult to control, Saturday August 20. More than 19,000 hectares of forest were reduced to ashes. All week, firefighters tried to stop these exceptional fires. Air resources also came as reinforcements, 35 aircraft were deployed.
A fierce fight on a 120 km front, made difficult by the high temperatures and the turning wind. Tuesday August 16, a passenger filmed the advance of the flames from a stationary train. As the fire gets dangerously close, the travelers are trapped. Some try to break the windows to escape. Fires are more and more frequent in Spain. Since the beginning of the year, they have ravaged the equivalent of 28 times the surface of Paris.
