Two parents and their 8-year-old son who miraculously survived the fire in their Lévis home over the Easter weekend could see their lives changed forever, while they are still in a coma to treat their wounds.
“The good news is that their lives are not in danger. But we have no idea how they will get out of it, if they will have any consequences, sighs Maxime Boutin.
Early last Saturday, while everyone was sleeping peacefully, an intense fire spread in the home of his brother Carl Boutin, in Lévis. It was an accidental fire that started in the kitchen.
As told The newspaper Saturday, his spouse Marie-Claude Desbiens and their son Evens had to jump from the second floor. For his part, the unconscious father of the family had to be extricated from the flames by the sappers.

“They had to resuscitate Carl before boarding him in the ambulance, then we almost lost him two or three times during the first night,” says Mr. Boutin’s brother, still shaken five days after the tragedy.

The condition of the three family members, transported to the hospital, has stabilized, but they are not out of business for all that. They were all put into an artificial coma to help their bodies heal better.
Burned on about 15% of his body and having breathed in a significant amount of CO2, it was the father of the family who was the hardest hit. He is due to receive a skin graft shortly.

Evens Boutin
Mme Desbiens and his son Evens suffered burns to the respiratory tract. The child’s vocal cords were also affected.
“It’s a bit like we’ve been holding our breath since it happened, waiting for answers,” sighs Mr. Boutin’s sister, Karina Vézina, thanking heaven that the couple’s other children don’t. weren’t home when the fire broke out.
An unexpected solidarity
The family home was completely destroyed by the flames. According to relatives, nothing could be recovered, not even a few souvenirs.
This is why a Go fund me fundraising campaign was set up to allow the couple to have less financial stress when they are back on their feet. Within days, more than $16,500 had already been raised.
“It puts a little balm in the heart to see that so many people have pitched in for the supporters. They really need it, ”said Mr.me Vezina.
